(Part I HERE)
(Part II HERE)

(i'm really not good writing it short, sorry)

Part III

Matthew declares a dance showdown? But actually it's a surprise birthday for Juan! )

And almost like an immediate answer to his birthday prayers Abraham gives him an envelope. Juan pulls out the envelope and begins to read. It was a letter about his parents, that they were in Bakers Field. The rest of the Boyz rejoices at the good news, however tragedy strikes )

DX-12 begins running, and suddenly the numbers were back up to 400+. The Boyz panics, trying to make up for this and Juan's sadness by Matthew trying to cheer Juan up at the corner even dancing to him one of their funnier choreographies and the rest of the Boyz speaking to the audience but failing to really say anything substantial. In the end they just decide to continue performing La Vida Eternal which is a Spanish cha-cha-like song, hoping to cheer Juan up by doing so. The Boyz force Juan to sing )Juan just slumps at the middle of the stage however, and the Boyz sing to him that GOD has a plan and surely it would be alright. This makes Juan finally sing his heart out though still in a very sad way (Go's performance here is really touching, specially his voice level at this part. These boys can really sing their high notes*___*).

DX-12 runs again as the Boyz comfort Juan, and the counter went down to 11 (or 33?). This finally cheers Juan. Mark then looks guiltily at the Boyz, wondering out loud, "what if the numbers still there are caused by a secret?"(?). The Boyz just looks at him wonderingly, and Mark speaks a little. Then the lights dim until only the spotlight is at Mark. He speaks this very long internal monologue about the loneliness of his situation, mainly addressing the audience about the secret ). It is an emotional moment for Mark (and Masa --- i think i understand now why he had been nervous... Masa with a bittersweet smile.... ;^;~~~~). He sings Epiphany --- this song increases in his notes as this goes along alskjsldfdlskfjdls. How Masa performed the song )

All the Boyz are nervous but comfort Mark. Drumroll sounds and Matthew saying something like this was the moment of truth, and DX-12 runs. It goes down to 4. They were all relieved, but bewildered at the same time at why it was still not at 0. They think this must be a different level already --- some of the audience may have already been held by the Devil! Matthew mentions something like code 918 [ I seriously do not know if this actually has some real religious connotation ]. The Boyz looked hesitant and afraid, but relents there is no other way and pulls out a chest.  Matthew also makes the guitarists unearth some old dusty religious texts which they blow at Matthew's face XD. Mark clings again at Matthew, wailing, "Matthew, kowai!" and obviously loving clinging at Matthew XDD.

lights and sounds change to something foreboding, and Matthew finally opens the chest and takes out various religious items ). Then they sing Number 918 which starts with them circling the chest chanting "Get the hell out, Akuma" [exorcism rite XDDD], and goes to a fast pace with a bridge part where they do formations and jumps and dance ability showdowns (Go breakdances again one-handed, while Masa does his perfect turns across the stage XD). There is that part near the end where Go(?) and Masa sings the high parts of the song.

DX-12 doesn't go down after the end of the song however. The rest of the Boyz tries to sing again Number 918, but Matthew now paces around DX-12 and finally angrily makes the band and the Boyz stop. The realization on who the remaining 4 is ).

They quiet down, and Matthew begins to apologize to the audience(?). At this Abraham suddenly stands up and interrupts and says something like if they would not go on he would continue being an "Altar Boy" on his own(?). The lights dim and he is on this spotlight as he goes into this monologue about him being a Jew but in the end had already accepted wholeheartedly the faith of the Boyz which he considers his family now... but now he's left alone. He takes out the paper which he had finished writing for the Boyz when they first met, and shows this quietly to the Boyz, before offering it to the pianist, sobbing.

The pianist then plays a slow version of the song (which was the one actually played comically at the nikki parts). It was an emotional moment for Abraham, he was sobbing slightly as he sings the song (I Believe). It was really a touching song about personal faith, I really felt like crying honestly. Specially when one by one the rest of the Boyz sing the rest of the song and join Abraham center stage as the spotlight turns on them, comforting Abraham, starting from the second to the last who had been "recruited" to the Boyz --- Juan, Luke, then Mark. They sing the chorus, then at the bridge Matthew finally joins them;___^.

I love this song ).

The song ends, and the characters exit stage as the lights dim and the band does a rock finale reprise of the I Believe song. Then the Narrator speaks some final words as the music swells down. Followed by GOD as the beat pumps up again and lights go back up.  The characters re-enters this time dressed in white sleeveless shirts and white pants. [aljfdlksdfldskjfsd great bodies abound XDDD... Masa really looks good*____*]

They sing an Altar Boyz Remix/Medley which is like parts of all in the songlist, except skipping some middle songs (like the keitai song). It was an energetic part --- the audience stand at this point and claps along with the music. They were spontaneous during the medley ).

The Boyz exit stage, and go back out to do their bows. First with each other, then scatter around the band as they finish their thing. Masa jumps from the upper stage over the microphone stand XD. Shinji and either Go or Ryoma does the same thing, H-san right after gets scared (but i think he does it as well after ahaha). Then the band finishes and the boyz take their bows with them and exit stage.

Roma celebrates his birthday on the 19th before exit stage, and he talks about having to build muscles for the part. )

Three of the boys who have exit stage left did some running dance across the stage to exit right --- i think it was either Roma or H-san, followed by Masa with his air split XDD, and then Shinji just plain ran XDDDD.

after the show )

sorry... Part I (HERE) was so long. it was the only way i know how to write it *dies*. i'll try to minimize...

PART II
(some terms may need correction)

Each flashback scene (nikki) was introduced by the Narrator, seemingly on the point of view of each of the boys(?) on the order of being "recruited" into the boyband. It started with a young altar boy Matthew (complete with sticharion) sitting on a corner trying to write a song on a piece of paper. young altar boy Mark with a sacramental bell passes by and goes ♥♥♥ on seeing Matthew. He asks what Matthew is doing and sits by him, and Matthew explains he is writing a song for "a very special person". Mark looks away and goes ♥♥♥ again [ thinking it was for him XDDDD ], and asks to look at the unfinished draft. Mark was impressed, and they freeze into this toothpaste commercial smile pose at the audience XDDD as Narrator introduces the next nikki (Mark's).

some kinda seductive music plays, and Matthew suddenly flips his head to give a weird look at Mark. Mark was startled, and even more when Matthew suddenly proceeds to crawl on top of him XDDDDD. (Of course audience went crazy XDDDD). Mark looks away like some kind of virgin XD with hands still clasped against his chest (like the only barrier between him at Matthew) and "pleads" at Matthew to "stop♥~~".  fanservice times again! )

Matthew then stands, and Mark stands as well and begins to pester Matthew for whom the song really is for. Which Matthew answered promptly, "Jesus Christ =D!" and Mark just goes into this extreme blown-away shell-shocked expression with that "DONNN~~~" sound effect ahahaXDD. Then he slumps and slumps even further, but goes back right up to give the toothpaste smile with Matthew at the introduction of the next nikki.

Luke was caught by Matthew and Mark eating sacramental bread like he's only eating peanuts XDDD. )

Juan appears --- the Latino relocated to Osaka! Thus... kansai-ben! )

Abraham, apparently a nerd-looking Jew, was alienated at first. But impresses the boys by finishing the song for them... and he demands to look like an altar boy as well by asking for a sticharion XDDD. )

Abraham dressed now in a sticharion begins with some monologue, and suddenly GOD with his thunder and lightning speaks up and the boys scatter and cower in fear.  Abraham keeps addressing Him unscared, and GOD keeps thundering at them until they finally retrieved sunglasses to look up at Him. (Mark somehow makes his way towards Matthew cowering in the corner as GOD thunders at them, and more clinging ensues, i.e., Mark draping himself over Abraham but immediately apologizing as Matthew looks at him "what the hell are you doing, man" ahaha. Masa takes this even further by lying his head across H-san's lap while H-san just goes @__@;;?, and there's also this point as they cower back again Masa accidentally knocks H-san out ahaha, and he had to do some mock heart-pump CPR until H-san "revived" XDDD)

GOD then kind of tells them to go forth and make music as a group (and gives them their band behind them too XDDD, who they bow at in greeting), which they accept. And GOD disappears and rain falls (via sound effects and lighting only). They begin singing the ballad The Calling (?) (which I dub as "the keitai song" --- one of my favorites ^___^) --- wherein some keitai suddenly descends from above and they take it and do some vibration movements along some parts of the song XD. It is also where the cast sings some high parts again individually, and the song also says that one can contact God anytime and anywhere, with lines like "call me, text me, e-mail me more", something like that --- really inspirational.

After that it goes back to normal time. [I don't really remember the sequence from hereon >.<;;;]They "Soul Sensor~~~" again and numbers go down further. Some of the boys then start addressing the audience, "Who is still not converted??" can't really remember where this part really is ).

Apparently though Luke's specialty is rapping ("Give me a piece of that Miracle Funk!"(?) The Miracle Song?), and Juan provides the beatbox. It was the members rapping/replying on the first part of the song (Masa kinds of goes seiyuu again at a part here, and wow, how Roma bootyshakes XDDD, and he speaks perfect unaccented English too.) Then at the end the song turns into a fast gospel-like sound, and Roma hits the most awesome highest note-play at the part in the end where he sings "That's what I'm talking about~~" as DX-12 counters down to a much lower number.

They sing another number, this time Abraham leading... with sheep hand puppets. (the Everybody Fits? song?) Abraham's puppet is black, while the others are white. It was a fun Sesame-street kind of song. [I don't remember much, but i think they did DX-12 again, and it went to a much lower number. and the guys rejoiced, particularly either Masa or Roma as they kept repeating the number even after the rest of the boys tried to calm them down XDDD]

After that they sing "Confession Session!" in the tune of a TV game show XDDD, and some of the boyz pull to center stage that black box with the cross from outside. They place the sheep puppets under its cart. Apparently this was a dropbox for the gray "What do you want to confess?" notecards, written on by the audience. It was a spontaneous moment for the boys )

After 2-3(?) notecards Matthew then goes center stage, addressing the "confessors" for a while before admitting that he has his own confession about a certain girl he likes. The rest of the boys then takes out tall chairs and sits on them (think the Backstreet Boys on "Ten Thousand Promises" in this part XDDD). He sings this as a ballad, with the boys humming along (Something About You) --- as in really really likes to the sexual point, but because he respects her that much and his faith he has to constantly keep himself in check (as in doing certain "I'm trying to stop myself" motions with his hand and crotch XD).

He picks a girl from the audience at this point ) Near the end of the song he goes off to the right side of the stage to sing some more, and Mark slowly gets out of his chair and sings towards Matthew as if the song was actually for him XDDD or goes in front of the girl to block her from Matthew's sight. When Matthew turns to address the girl again he finds Mark right in front of him or covering the girl, and either he shoos or pushes him away XDD (poor Mark^^;;; --- he looks really dejected and couldn't believe it XD), then sits at the side of the foot of the girl at the end of the song.

Back to normal show mode, and Matthew rewards the girl by giving her the Altar Boyz towel which he also wiped his face on (boyband times XDD) with extra wipe under his shirt. He makes the audience clap for the girl, and Mark like a gentleman leads the girl back to her place as the rest of the Boyz talk on stage and do DX-12 again --- but promptly sneak-snatches the towel and breathes in Matthew's scent deeply like one so in love ahaha (Masa aside from sniffing on it rubs it in between his legs though XDD). The DX-12 went up one number (i think from 40 it went up to 41) and the Boyz were like, "what happened??" They immediately trace Mark as the culprit for one soul back to being unconverted, and demand him to return whatever it is he could have taken. Mark throws back the towel angrily at the girl ahaha XD. DX-12 runs again and is back to the original number, and Mark goes into a dramatic fit at the corner who Juan and Abraham immediately comforts. Matthew is just like oblivious as he goes over at Mark's and demands what happened, but Abraham ushers him away XDD.

They sing Body, Mind, and Soul(?) after, which is like a gospel-like pop song, until it goes to the middle where they make the audience stand up and say "Yeah!" everytime Roma says "Are you ready to go to work???" [in perfect English]. Really fun time XD.

After this... it goes dramatic! (Part III --->)

(complete?) sorry, i'll try to remember everything and write what little we could understand. And just a heads up that this would be MASA-CENTRIC (i really couldn't help being on Masa-vision mode the whole time *dies*). But I would be mixing in my friend's comments as a first-time audience of this type of thing and of the boys, but understood the language much better (and someone who had been quite in a bit of pain during the whole play! so brave... sorry, Aya >__<! )

and sorry too if this would come out too spazzy/retarded/lame/failed/long. First time in Japan and on a whole lot of things, including writing this type of stuff. (So sorry too if I tend to pay attention only to the few other aspects of other fandoms that i acted bleh, i.e. on the previous Pureboys experience.  Maybe I'm just really into Masa fandom only? I'll continue appreciating but trying not to spazz that much on other fandoms from now on if i don't know much *pained smile*. too many fandoms, too little time...).

anyway, i'll also try my best to lj-cut the spoilers+long things. spoilers seem inevitable =___=, sorry...! I'll addressing character names but indicating if the actors themselves does something extra. [ ] = my comments. Also, please do not read if you're uncomfortable with satire and any level of religious talk.

Me and my friend watched on the sole show on the 19th (me at 2nd row, so near the stage aljfldsfldsfldskdjfld wth i didn't realize i was that near lol, Aya at 9th row), and i impulse-watched on afternoon of the 22nd (<--- this is not considered senshuuraku right? the evening, last show was already sold out ;^;) at standing area 12, Shinjuku FACE. Slight differences between the shows would be indicated with 19 on normal and 22 on red.

the venue )

it was a small stage! But the venue and the audience had been setup in a way that everyone has a clear view of the stage.

stage pics )

Church organ melodies were played as the audience were ushered in, with the occasional MC (the narrator in the play or the boys maybe) giving out reminders to the audience in this hyper voice XD. As opening nears church incense begins to cloud the stage as well (ah, I remember my days in Catholic school...!). Those who have seats get promotional flyers (yay 7CHEERS XDD), and that small gray notecard saying something similar(?) to that note tacked on the wall by that black box outside:
pics: what do you want to confess? )

The stage band goes in and setups for a bit. Then a staff-san goes out with a smoke engine that smells suspiciously like incense and begins scattering it across the stage, forming a heart at the middle which audience claps at. Then it was lights out. Start of the show was the toll of a church bell in time with the upright lights set up by those metal structures, lighting up in pairs towards the big cross at the middle. The boys also come in one by one in the darkness and positions themselves.

The boys and their costuming! )

The small stage is enough room it seems for the boys to make a line without hitting the musicians at the back and dance and jump around (and make stunts at around the middle part of the show). As shown in their very first song We Are the Altar Boyz. The boys dance their way slowly to the center in a circle and crouches down the floor as musicians do some rock tune. After that is this slow introductory tempo with Matthew in the middle standing and singing first in the spotlight. The others echo his words and dance slightly along the floor behind him. Then Mark stands and sings next in the spotlight, and the song becomes upbeat rock near the end of his part with all the lights bursting on. This was a mostly "blending" rock/dance song, and their blending is really good*___*.

how they performed )

[ can't remember if this part goes after Rhythm in Me ] The lights go on normal, and the boys then speaks to the audience, mentioning Shinjuku FACE as the last leg of their "tour". They also make introductions --- Matthew, Mark, Ruka (or "Luke"), and Yohan (or "Juan" --- spanish for "John"). They stop in mentioning Abraham XDDD, so he introduces himself and continues talking. <--- it seems he is the odd man out^^;;. not necessarily alienated from them, but odd^^;;;. [ in reference to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John --- the authors of the first four Gospels in the Bible's New Testament. Abraham is an essential character in the Old Testament. ] They explain that their goal is to convert all the audiences they come across! [ As in convert to praising God/evangelism via their upbeat modern singing and dancing and good looks XDDD;; --- Christian boyband! ]. [ Noticeable at this point is Masa's quite eager, wide-eyed receptive behavior and prim and proper mannerism (hands clasped together most of the time, like after clapping he'll clasp it again) ].

Matthew then introduces the high-tech, user-friendly XDDD machine DX-12! the red numbers on screen indicate the number of astray souls in the audience and it is their goal to bring down that number by the end of the show! so they perform Church Rulez, the numbers go down but not enough that Luke gets hotheaded XDD. )

Then there is that part where they freeze in the middle of the stage on a pose with lights suddenly darkened, as the Narrator talks and explains the Boyz' background. And talks again XDDD. fanservice and such ).

And from there lights out, and a re-enactment of the boys' banding up begins! (On to Part II!--> )
